Cooking over live fire is one of the oldest and most rewarding ways to prepare food. In this outdoor workshop, we’ll focus on the essential techniques that make cooking with wood and coals both approachable and deeply flavorful.
Guests will learn how to build and manage a proper cooking fire, understand heat zones, and work confidently with live coals. Throughout the session, we’ll explore the foundations of cooking over fire, including direct and indirect heat, ember cooking, and simple seasoning techniques that allow seasonal ingredients to shine.
Working together around the fire, we’ll prepare a small selection of dishes using a variety of live-fire methods. Along the way, we’ll talk through wood selection, temperature control, and the small adjustments that help cooks move comfortably between flame, coal, and radiant heat.
At the end of the workshop, the food we’ve prepared will be served and shared together as a relaxed fire-cooked meal with wine.
This class serves as the foundation of the Live Fire Cooking series and is designed for anyone curious about learning how to cook confidently over wood fire.
