Autumn in New York State

Last weekend, this was the backdrop for Heirloom Fire; What an amazing space to work in.

We were asked to come and cook at Hiddenhurst Farm in upstate New York. Once we began looking at potential sites to set up the event we fell immediately in love with the family orchard. This had to be it: I mean, what else could possibly sum up a party in autumn in New York other than a party focused on apples?

A big part of an Heirloom Fire party is the cocktails that begin the event. For this occasion, we borrowed the family apple press and made cider which we then mixed with Bourbon and fresh sage from the garden.

The views were like that of a painting, the food humble and delicious, the company warm and inviting. I still hear the crisp crack of the smokey pig skin.
